According to Jain tradition, Mahavira was born in Kundagrama (Bihar) to King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. He renounced the world at 30 and attained kevala jnana (omniscience) after 12 years of austerity. He preached ahimsa, satya, asteya, brahmacharya, and aparigraha.
